malborough-wine-trail-hawkee28099s-bayWitness nature’s beauty in its peak on your journey from Hawke’s Bay in the North Island to Marlborough down South. Go your way tasting the different flavours of wine en route; enjoy in the cultural activities in Wellington and experience royal hospitality of Tararua, a place considered to be the abode for its iconic brewery.

The Route:
The Classic Wine Trail is very well sign posted the entire path, of around 380 kilometres. This tour links Hawke’s bay, Tararua, Wairarapa, Wellington and Marlborough. It has a well-diversified tourist attraction list, including its cultural, wildlife and adventure experiences along with an attraction for wine-connoisseurs.

What to see, do, eat and drink:
The place has a whooping high count of 120 wine cellar doors along with the numerous vineyard restaurants and cafes. Hawke’s Bay is the abode of tough cabernet sauvignon and merlot; while Waisarapa is no less in pinot noir.

The feather to their hat is an added dimension for touring around, that is, exploring the provincial cities and towns. Hastings and Napier have architected the worlds finest Art Deco and Spanish. This was thanks to a catastrophic earthquake that shook everything apart in the year 1931. In the middle of Tararua’s flourishing countryside, you will witness the majestic Art Deco masterpiece.

There are several adorable and magical historic small towns that one can discover in the course of their journey i.e. the Greytown, Featherstown, Martinborough and Caterton. Blenhein is also a friendly place that boasts of its finest restaurants and many interesting places to stay, including a convent. You can also take a trip to the town’s local museum which houses the largest collection of WWI aircraft.

Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city is the most urban element of our journey. Taking a trip to the national museum and looking at the exhibits at Te Papa, taking a ride on the cable car to the botanical gardens, the observatory, a casual walk along the Oriental Parade, the magnificent Beehive, and the political power epicentre of New Zealand.

Lastly, not to forget, the Classical New Zealand Wine Trail is sure to give you a fascinating journey into the wildlife. You can go hiking on Mount Bruce or the Tararua. And if you need to cut down on some fat, do go for hiking, biking, trekking or kayaking in the scenic beauties of Queen Charlotte Track, which is one of the most fascinating adventures of Marlborough.
