The Wineries of New Zealand

the-wineries-of-new-zealandYou might have more than a thousand of reasons for living the better part of the day travelling to New Zealand, but for a wine connoisseur, it is the most interesting fact that New Zealand is the best place for wine tourism.

I can easily and confidently say that there’s no other place in the world who could welcome tourists in a better manner.

The French vignerons will be pleased to greet you, but only if you take an advance appointment and reach the venue promptly, expressing a strong desire to buy their wine. The wineries are so in love with the tourists, that they almost induce the tourists into purchasing an organized guided tour that revolves around more of Walt Disney and his characters than vines, grapes and barrels.

The Kiwis settled in a much later period of time, and they do not keep a high profile, consciously aware of this fact. The Sauvignon Bancs, which are supposedly the best on earth, had only come into market since the eighties, while the Pinot Noirs arrived almost ten years after that.

Contrarily, these days, almost every day you would see new wineries opening doors to business. They offer plenty of services like tasting sessions, cafes, restaurants, and also a hotel or cottage for tourists to take rest after a hard day of touring the place.

Of all the places, my favourite ones were the Malborough valley, and the nearby Malborough Sounds. Also, thee Montana Brancott boasts of offering the worlds finest tastings and tours and some really tasty mouth-watering food.

On the North Island is Hawke’s Bay, which houses the best Caberet Sauvignons and Merlots. Their terrace restaurant, the Craggy Range serves the finest chance to see an open kitchen, with chefs cooking below the stars.

At much greater heights of New Zealand, are situated the country’s cult Pinot Noir vineyards. They also have a small theatre house called the Big Picture, where, just for a small amount of NZ$20, you can enjoy films that could take you through an air tri in a helicopter, dropping you into vineries. You also get to simply his wine, as the winemaker speaks about his product.

So, pick up the best of wines when you plan a trip to the magnificient vineyards and wineries of New Zealand.
