WOW museum in Nelson

The World of Wearable Art show is held annually 2 weeks in September in Wellington, New Zealand.  Through music, dance, light and especially portable “art” a story is told. At the forefront of the theatrical show, the elaborate costumes each made with a specific topic, receive their own choreography.

History

The WOW show in Nelson, in 1987 a promotion for a local art gallery was held. Since then, the show has grown steadily and has become a New Zealand-wide event for creative designers.
The founder Suzie Moncrieff is now creative director of the event to 30,000 visitors a year.
Until 2004 the show was held in Nelson.  The administration, WOW & Classic Cars Museum, with costumes and cars are in Nelson and remained a popular tourist destination.
