Hastings

Hastings is located in Hawke’s Bay Region, which is found on the North Island. Hastings is considered as the administrative town of Hastings District.

The nearest City from Hasting is Napier; it’s less than twenty kilometers away. People living in this area move easily and have integrated between the two cities as they are often classified together. The two cities are often referred as Napier-Hastings or Twin Cities or even Bay Cities by local communities.

However, according to government statistics, the two cities are regarded to be different in terms of administration and mode of governance. This is evident in that Napier has a governing authority in terms of city council. The merging of Hasting City, Havelock North, Waimarama and Clive, neighboring villages and part of rural land led to the formation of Hasting District.

Hastings is known to be one region in New Zealand that enjoys great weather. It experiences sunny conditions for the better part of the year. The west of Hastings is covered by ranges that boarder on fertile plains. These plains are known to support beautiful orchards as a result of the fertility levels in the soil, beautiful sunny weather and moisture.
