Whangamata Beach New Zealand

The town Whangamata is situated on the southeast cost of the Coromandel Peninsula on the North Island of New Zealand. It is located 30 kilometres north of Walhi, to the north of the western extremity of the Bay of Plenty.

The beach itself is graced with a number of off-shore islands. Hauturu is popular in summer months for rock-poolers and kayakers. Whenuakuara Island is situated one kilometer from the Whangamata beach.

The town has two beaches. Both are perfect ideal for safe swimming and surfing.

There is an attractive boating harbour at the north end of the town and another estuary at the South end.

Both the harbour and estuary are a great hang-out place for families. Because both are very good for swimming. There is another popular beach Whiritoa just 15 minutes distance from the south of Whhangamata. Other beaches just north of Whangamata are Onemana and Opoutere.
